This family home in Bowral presented the challenge of maximizing a steeply sloping site while enhancing the outdoor living experience. A sunken fire pit was strategically placed to create a cozy breakout area, doubling as a sun trap during the winter months. A new pergola extends the living space, while the lawn area was expanded to seamlessly connect with the surrounding landscape. The planting design blends naturalistic species, allowing the garden to gently transition into the adjacent bushland, creating a harmonious connection between the home and its natural setting.
For this newly purchased Randwick property, a full garden renovation was carried out to reflect the new owner’s entertainers lifestyle. The design focused on improving street appeal and creating a welcoming space for open air entertaining. Architectural features, including timber batten screens to discreetly conceal the parking bay and neighboring property, add character and privacy. A hand-carved water feature with custom-fabricated copper spouts serves as a striking focal point, blending craftsmanship with elegance.
Nicholas Pembroke Design was engaged to work alongside award-winning interior designers Thomas Hamel to transform this Queen Street, Woollahra property. At the front, a bold and sculptural planting scheme enhances street appeal, ensures privacy, and creates a striking visual impact. At the rear, the design features clean lines and a sophisticated, restrained palette, resulting in a functional yet elegant space. Highlights include a stunning pool, an outdoor kitchen and dining area, a lush lawn, custom bench seating, and a custom wall mirror. Each element was thoughtfully curated to craft an open, airy environment that feels expansive and refined.
Nicholas Pembroke Design was engaged for ongoing consultative work to enhance this existing 5 acre garden in the beautiful garden hamlet of Mt Wilson. New perennial garden beds were designed and implemented, sculpture was sourced and an oversized chess board built among other additions.
Nicholas Pembroke Design was engaged to create a seamless connection between an existing, yet disconnected, pool and the house on a challenging sloped site. To achieve this, we designed wide, flowing steps with thoughtfully placed landings that double as inviting spaces to relax and watch children in the pool. The planting scheme was carefully curated to reach its peak flowering during the summer school holidays, aligning with the pool's busiest season. Additional features include a stylish pergola and a cozy fire pit area, enhancing the space's functionality and appeal for year-round enjoyment.
The brief here was simple for this property preparing for sale. Clean, low maintenance and plenty of lawn. Emphasis here was put less on planting and more on the hardscape items like a pool, outdoor kitchen and wellness cabana.
